Buying advice
- Check pad type and whether extras are included
- Tank size matters for larger homes (fewer top-ups)
- Heat-up time and ready light help if you clean in short bursts
- Stick to sealed hard floors unless the listing clearly supports carpet gliders
- Prefer models with washable microfibre pads to cut running costs
Frequently asked questions
Are steam mops safe on laminate?
Many are fine on sealed laminate when used as directed, but always check the manufacturer guidance for your floor type.
Do I need detergent?
Most steam mops are designed for water-only cleaning; detergent can void warranties or leave residue.
Steam mop vs vacuum?
A steam mop sanitises and loosens sticky dirt on hard floors; it does not replace a vacuum for dry debris and carpets.
