Magnetic versus panel
Magnetic strip curtains part when you walk through and reseal — handy for busy hallways and pets. Single panels hang like a heavy curtain on a pole.
Check the listed width and drop against your door frame.
Heat and fire safety
Keep fabric clear of heaters and never drape over hot surfaces.
Thermal curtains reduce draughts; they do not replace proper door seals alone.
What to look for in a thermal door curtain
Width and length that cover the door with some overlap.
Magnetic strips if you need hands-free access.
Quilted or thick lining for colder halls.
Blackout if the door faces street lights.
Pet-friendly claims if dogs push through.
Easy wipe-clean or washable fabric as listed.
How we chose these picks
We only included products that were in stock on Amazon UK with a single live buy-box price in pounds when we checked on 27 October 2026, read with a UK delivery address. We skipped listings showing low stock, no stock line or unclear details, and we avoided repeating products already featured in our other guides. Specs in the comparison table come from each product's Amazon UK listing, and a dash means the listing does not state that detail. Descriptions are based on what each listing says; we have not tested these products ourselves, and we have not used star ratings or review counts.

Frequently asked questions
Are thermal door curtains worth it?
They can be if you have a draughty external door you open often. A well-fitted thermal or magnetic curtain reduces cold air in the hall. Cost is modest versus replacing a door.
Do thermal door curtains work?
Yes for cutting draughts when closed or when magnetic strips reseal. They will not match double glazing for windows, but they help hallway comfort.
How to install thermal door curtain?
Panel curtains usually hang from a rod or rail above the door. Magnetic strip curtains often use a header and side fixings as the listing describes — follow the pack instructions and keep fabric clear of the door swing if needed.
What is a thermal door curtain?
A heavy or insulated curtain made to hang over a door opening to slow heat loss and draughts. Some use magnetic strips so you can walk through without tying them back.
