Christmas Gifts for Police Officers: 8 Picks from £5.84

Our top picks

Best overall: GEARLITE Rechargeable LED Torch, 2000LM (£11.99). A good torch was one of the most suggested gifts when officers were asked online, and this one is small enough for a pocket or glovebox. The listing says it gives up to 2000 lumens, has an adjustable focus from spotlight to floodlight with a beam distance of up to 250m, and three modes (high, medium and strobe). It has a built-in 1200mAh rechargeable battery that the listing says charges in about 4 hours with the included Type-C cable, an aluminium body with an IP65 waterproof rating, and the details list 32 x 32 x 120mm and 0.13 kg. A personal torch is a spare for off-duty use, not a replacement for any force-issued kit.

Best budget: Smash Stainless Steel Travel Cutlery Set (£5.84). The cheapest gift here and a small one that really gets used. A proper knife, fork and spoon of their own is handy for meals on shift or in the car. The listing says the set includes a food grade stainless steel knife, fork and spoon in a silicone carry case that keeps them together and hygienic, and the details list a weight of 145 g.

Best for night shifts: Thermos Stainless Steel Flask, 1 Litre, Hammertone Blue (£16.95). A big flask means hot tea or coffee for a whole night shift. The listing describes double wall vacuum insulation, a stainless steel inside and out, a body that stays cool to the touch with hot drinks, and an insulated stainless steel serving cup. The details list a capacity of 1000 ml, a twist and pour stopper, a size of 30cm high by 9cm across and a weight of 531 g, and the listing says it is BPA free.

More Christmas gifts for police officers

KQPZ Rechargeable Hand Warmers, 2 Pack (£11.98). Hand warmers are a popular pick for anyone standing outside on a cold night. The listing says the two magnetic warmers can be used separately in each pocket or joined together, with 4 heat levels from 40C to 55C and an LED display showing battery and temperature. It says the battery lasts 4 to 9 hours depending on the setting, and each warmer weighs 77 g and is 1.8cm thick. The box includes a 2-in-1 charging cable and two lanyards, according to the details.

Lifewit Double Compartment Insulated Lunch Bag, 7L (£11.98). A lunch bag that fits in a locker makes it easier to bring proper food rather than relying on whatever is open at 3am. The listing says it has two separate sections for hot and cold food, about 7L capacity, and measures 24 x 15.5 x 24.5 cm. The outside is 600D Oxford fabric described as waterproof, and the lining is food grade PEVA with foam padding that wipes clean.

Contigo West Loop Autoseal Travel Mug, 470ml (£17.59). For a hot drink in the car between jobs. The listing says the Autoseal lid seals between sips to stop leaks, with a lid-lock so the button is not pressed by accident, and that drinks stay hot for up to 5 hours or cold for up to 12. It has a vacuum insulated stainless steel body and a BPA-free lid that is dishwasher safe (hand wash the body), and the listing says it fits common car cupholders. The details list a capacity of 470 ml.

Gritin Blackout Sleep Mask with Earplugs (£8.99). Sleeping in the day after nights is hard, so a blackout mask is a thoughtful extra. The listing describes a one-piece nose bridge to block light, contoured eye cups so there is no pressure on the eyes, and an adjustable strap for head sizes from 490 to 650mm. It comes with two pairs of earplugs, and the details list 25 x 10.4 x 2.5 cm and 31 g.

Blackstone's Handbook for Policing Students 2026 (£37.51). The biggest gift here and the one for a student officer, new recruit or someone about to pass out. The publisher's description says it covers the routes into policing, from pre-join degrees, degree holder entry and degree apprenticeships to the police constable entry programme, and that it will also interest Specials and PCSOs who want to join as a constable. It is divided into five parts from entry to initial training and confirmation, with topics such as stop, search and entry, interviewing and wellbeing. It is the 20th edition from OUP Oxford (16 October 2025), with 712 pages.

Gifts for cold and night shifts

A large flask like the 1 litre Thermos (£16.95) keeps a hot drink going through a night, and the Contigo mug (£17.59) is easier to use in the car. Rechargeable hand warmers (£11.98) help on scene cordons and foot patrols, and a blackout mask (£8.99) helps with sleeping during the day afterwards.

Gifts for the locker and the canteen

Station cutlery has a habit of going missing, so a personal set like the Smash travel cutlery (£5.84) is a small gift that gets used every shift. The Lifewit lunch bag (£11.98) keeps hot and cold food apart, and the GEARLITE torch (£11.99) is a handy spare for the car or for walking to the car after a late finish.

Gifts for new recruits and passing out

For a student officer, Blackstone's Handbook for Policing Students 2026 (£37.51) follows the stages from entry through initial training to confirmation. Pair it with a smaller practical gift, such as the flask or torch, for a passing out present.

What to look for in a Christmas gift for a police officer

Keep it practical. Officers asked online most often suggest things like a decent rechargeable torch, a flask, hand warmers, warm socks and their own cutlery, rather than novelty items.

Avoid uniform and duty kit. Uniform, boots and kit worn on duty are usually issued or controlled by the force, so stick to gifts for the locker, car, canteen and home unless the officer has told you exactly what they want.

Think about shift patterns. Many officers work early, late and night shifts, so gifts that help with hot drinks, packed meals and daytime sleep are useful.

Check charging and power. The torch and the hand warmers are rechargeable by USB according to their listings, so a spare USB plug or power bank could be a useful extra.

Thanking officers you do not know? Forces have rules on gifts from the public, and cash, alcohol and vouchers with a cash value are usually declined. A thank-you card is always a safe choice.

Budget. The gifts here cost between £5.84 and £37.51 when we checked on 31 October 2026. Check the delivery date on Amazon so the gift arrives before Christmas.

How we chose these picks

We only included products that were in stock on Amazon UK with a single live buy-box price in pounds when we checked on 31 October 2026, read with a UK delivery address. We skipped listings showing low stock, no stock line or unclear details, and we avoided repeating products already featured in our other guides. Specs in the comparison table come from each product's Amazon UK listing, and a dash means the listing does not state that detail. Descriptions are based on what each listing says; we have not tested these products ourselves, and we have not used star ratings or review counts.
