The one thing every trombone player relies on is a slide that moves freely, so slide lubricants and care products are some of the most useful presents you can give. They are also small and affordable enough to make good stocking fillers, and players get through them steadily over the year. This guide mixes those everyday consumables from Yamaha, Champion and Slide-O-Mix with a brush cleaning kit and a novelty trombone mug. This guide covers 6 gifts that were in stock on Amazon UK with a live buy-box price when we checked on 26 October 2026. Our overall pick is the Yamaha Trombone Slide Lubricant, 30ml at £19.01, the budget pick is the Champion Tuning Slide Grease for Brass Instruments at £7.49, and our pick for families is the Panvola I Destroy Silence Trombone Mug at £11.97. Prices and stock change often in the run-up to Christmas, so check both on Amazon before you buy.

Buying advice
Our top picks
Best overall: Yamaha Trombone Slide Lubricant, 30ml (£19.01). The listing gives the model as YAC121P (SLO3) and says the formula contains no hydrocarbons, so it will not dry out or become solid and is meant to stop the slide sticking. It says it suits players of any level.
Best budget: Champion Tuning Slide Grease for Brass Instruments (£7.49). Trombones have a tuning slide as well as the main slide, and this grease is for those slides on any brass instrument. The listing says it is made from a blend of natural, non-hazardous and odourless ingredients.
Best for families: Panvola I Destroy Silence Trombone Mug (£11.97). A fun gift from the family. The listing describes a ceramic mug printed on both sides, so the design is visible for left- or right-handed drinkers.
Other gifts for trombone players
Champion Slide-Ezy Trombone Slide Cream, 50ml (£9.95). A slide cream alternative to oil. The listing says it is designed to lubricate trombone slides, has a child-safe cap, comes in a recyclable 50 ml bottle and is made in Shropshire.
Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort Trombone Slide Lubricant, 30ml (£7.95). The listing says this is a one-bottle slide lubricant, made in Germany, for players who want a slide action without stopping or sticking.
Abaodam Trombone and Euphonium Cleaning Kit (£12.19). A basic brush kit for keeping the inside of the instrument clean. The listing says it includes mouthpiece and valve brushes with an internal stainless steel spring for flexibility and a stainless steel handle.
What to look for in a gift for trombone players
Oil or cream. Trombone slides are lubricated with either slide oil, like the Yamaha and Slide-O-Mix products, or slide cream, like Champion Slide-Ezy. Players often have a strong preference, so if you know what they use, buy more of the same.
Tuning slide grease. This is different from main slide lubricant and is used on the tuning slide, so the Champion grease is a useful extra.
Cleaning. Brushes that reach the mouthpiece and tubing help keep the inside of the instrument clean between services.
Novelty gifts. A mug like the Panvola one is a fun extra, but pair it with something practical if it is the main present.
Budget. Prices in this guide ran from £7.49 to £19.01 when we checked, so several of these could be combined.
