What to look for in a Christmas gift for a rower
Comfort counts. Long sessions on a hard seat make seat pads popular.
Hydration is key. A large bottle is handy for both erg and river sessions.
Check their setup. Indoor and on-the-water rowers have different kit needs.
Inspiration helps. Rowing books and films make great gifts for the off-season.
Think about their routine. Gifts that fit into everyday life tend to be used the most, long after Christmas is over.
Add a personal touch. A handwritten card or a note about why you chose the gift makes it feel more special.
Keep receipts. A gift receipt makes it easy to swap a colour, size or style if something is not quite right.
Mind the budget. A thoughtful gift does not need to be expensive, and smaller practical items are often appreciated just as much.
Think about experiences. Tickets, a day out or time spent together can be as memorable as a physical gift.
Check delivery dates. Order early in December, as delivery times can stretch in the run-up to Christmas.
Read the product details. Sizes, compatibility and what is included vary, so check the listing carefully before ordering.
Wrap it well. Thoughtful wrapping and a card make even a small gift feel special on Christmas morning.
Think about storage. Check they have space for the gift, especially larger items.
Consider quality over quantity. One well-chosen gift is often better than several things they will not use.
Ask a friend or family member. Someone close to them may know exactly what they already have and what they would love.
Bundle a set. The The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, the Polar Gear 1L Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle and the Godfrey Original Rowing Seat Pad, 12mm Anti-Slip together came to £56.66 at the prices checked.
