What to look for in a Christmas gift for a Nintendo fan
Choose licensed products. Official merchandise is made with Nintendo's approval and is usually better quality.
Know their favourite series. Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Animal Crossing and Kirby fans each have their own favourites.
Check their console. Cases and accessories should match the Switch, Switch OLED or Switch 2.
Mix screen and play. LEGO sets, slot cars and books give fans something to enjoy away from the screen.
Check age ranges. Some sets include small parts, so check the recommended age on each product.
Think about games. A new game is always welcome, but check they do not already own it.
Consider room decor. Lights and plush toys let fans show off their favourite characters.
Think about collecting. Many fans love building a collection of figures, plush or LEGO sets from one series, so adding to it is a safe bet.
Keep the console safe. A sturdy case protects a Switch on car journeys and visits to family over Christmas.
Add a personal touch. A Nintendo eShop gift card lets them choose a game they really want.
Think about multiplayer. Many Nintendo games are designed for playing together, so a second controller can make Christmas gaming more fun for the whole family.
Consider older fans. Grown-up Nintendo fans often enjoy nostalgic gifts such as retro-style lights, books and collectables.
Bundle a set. The book, the plush and the Zelda light together came to £35.43 at the prices checked.

Frequently asked questions
What to buy a Zelda fan?
Zelda fans may enjoy officially licensed merchandise such as lights, mugs, figures and books, or a Zelda game they do not yet own. This guide includes the Paladone Bokoblin Chest Light at £16.99 when checked on 12 October 2026.
What Nintendo Switch 2 accessories do I need?
Many Switch 2 owners find a protective case, a screen protector, a microSD Express card for extra storage and an extra controller useful.
What Nintendo Switch accessories work with Switch 2?
Some original Switch accessories, such as the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, can be used with Switch 2, but the console is a different size, so cases, docks and grips made for the original Switch may not fit. Always check compatibility.
Is Nintendo Switch 2 backwards compatible?
Nintendo Switch 2 can play most physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, though Nintendo notes that a small number of games may not be fully supported.
