Farriers work hard, often outdoors in the cold, and many horse owners like to say thank you at Christmas.
Prices checked on Amazon UK, 26 October 2026.
Farriers work hard, often outdoors in the cold, and many horse owners like to say thank you at Christmas. The tricky part is that a farrier already owns the specialist tools of the trade and will have strong opinions about them, so the safest gifts are either everyday consumables they get through, such as spare hoof knives, or something horse-themed for when they are off the clock. This guide sticks to products sold on Amazon UK with a live price, from a budget hoof knife to a nostalgic farrier jigsaw and a soy wax candle sold as a horse lover's gift. This guide covers 4 gifts for farriers that were in stock on Amazon UK with a live buy-box price when we checked on 26 October 2026. Our overall pick is the Panther Surgical Straight Hoof Knife, 20cm at £13.99, the budget pick is the Xtra Hardy Hoof Knife, Right Hand, Dual Sided at £9.99, and our pick for families is the Gibsons Farrier on the Farm 500 Piece Jigsaw at £11.95. Prices and stock change often in the run-up to Christmas, so check both on Amazon before you buy.

Our top picks
Best overall: Panther Surgical Straight Hoof Knife, 20cm (£13.99). A practical spare. The listing describes a 20cm hoof knife with a sharp straight stainless steel blade and a shaped wooden handle.
Best budget: Xtra Hardy Hoof Knife, Right Hand, Dual Sided (£9.99). The cheapest pick. The listing says it is a right-handed hoof knife with a dual-sided stainless steel blade that can be sterilised and a wooden handle, so check which hand they use.
Best for downtime: Gibsons Farrier on the Farm 500 Piece Jigsaw (£11.95). Something for an evening off. The listing describes a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle for adults with a nostalgic farrier scene.
Other gifts for farriers
Makester Horse Gifts Soy Wax Candle (£12.99). A horse-themed treat. The listing describes a soy wax candle with a vanilla, jasmine and sugared almond scent, sold as a gift for horse lovers.
What to look for in a gift for a farrier
Budget. A Christmas thank-you from a client is usually modest. The picks here cost between £9.99 and £13.99 when we checked.
Tools they actually use up. Hoof knives wear and get lost, so a spare is useful, but check whether they are left or right handed before you buy.
Leave the big kit alone. Farriers choose their own rasps, nippers and anvils, so avoid buying expensive specialist tools unless you know exactly what they want.
Something for downtime. A themed jigsaw or candle is a safe choice for a client who wants to give a small, personal gift.
Cold-weather extras. Much of the work is done outside in winter, so warm gloves, socks or a flask are also practical ideas.
Card or cash. Some owners prefer to add a card and a small tip. If you do, a gift like the ones here can go with it.
Delivery date. Check the delivery date on Amazon so the gift arrives before their last visit before Christmas.
How we chose these picks
We only included products that were in stock on Amazon UK with a single live buy-box price in pounds when we checked on 26 October 2026, read with a UK delivery address. We skipped listings showing low stock, long delivery dates or unclear details, and we avoided repeating products already featured in our other gift guides. Descriptions are based on what each listing says; we have not tested these products ourselves, and we have not used star ratings or review counts.

Frequently asked questions
What is farrier work?
A farrier trims and balances horses' hooves and fits horseshoes. In Great Britain only farriers registered with the Farriers Registration Council are allowed to shoe horses, under the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975.
Do you tip a farrier?
There is no fixed rule. Some horse owners give their farrier a small tip or gift at Christmas as a thank-you, and many simply pay the bill promptly and leave a card.
